A slow cooker is an ideal appliance for most of the American households. It is more due to the features available for cooking with a slow cooker that have made the difference. While you are considering to buy a slow cooker, you can consider the following features before you make your choice.
Size: it is always better to choose a volume that will suit your cooking needs. For a big family a 6 liters crockpot is suitable, whereas for a small one a slow cooker with 3.5 liters is sufficient.
Bowl shape: also matters in cooking process. It is better to opt for a round pot if you plan to only cook stews or curries. However, it is better to pick an oval pot if you want to go for cooking roast chicken.
Auto-cook option: is another important feature and it helps to cook the food better than food cooked using either the high or low setting.
Temperature Settings: are quite required apart from the auto-cook option. It is always better to buy a slow cooker with three temperature settings, viz. slow, medium and high. These settings help you to cook the food in a better way.
Warm option: helps to keep food drying out if your diners are delayed, but stops it getting cold. Hence this setting always comes handy.
Timer: is useful if you are going to be away longer from the slow cooker than the recipe states as the slow cooker turns to 'keep warm' at the end of the cooking time.
On indicator light: is a good visual indicator that your slow cooker is working.
Cleaning: should be easy and you should consider the dishwasher safe considerations.
